What Is Sonic Breathwork?

Sonic Breathwork™ is a modality developed by Christopher August and Johnny Buffalo, the team that also built Beats and Breath™ which integrates conscious breathing techniques with sound design, live and produced sonic environments that guide, support, and deepen the breath experience.

The Role of Sound

  • Sound is not background music. It is a co-facilitator.
  • Specific frequencies, rhythms, and sonic textures correspond to different phases of the breath journey
  • Sound provides an external anchor that helps practitioners maintain breath patterns without constant verbal cuing
  • The sonic environment is designed to support the nervous system's natural arc: activation → peak → integration → rest
